Programming Principles

1. Follow the prescription. Sets, reps, RPE, percentage, and the exercise-level intensity icon are the intended targets for that exercise.
2. Quality before load. Progress load or reps when the prescribed work can be completed with consistent technique.
3. Manage fatigue. Do not add missed work just to make up volume. Resume the program and keep the next session productive.
4. Progress with purpose. Training stress should build toward the goal of the block rather than increase simply for the sake of doing more.
5. Recovery is part of the program. Deloads, reduced-volume periods, and lower-intensity work are used when the program calls for them.

Intensity

A simple way to understand how hard you should be pushing on each workout.

Workout intensity is a coach-set guide.
Use the symbol shown on a workout to understand the intended level of effort. It is separate from RPE and does not replace exercise-specific instructions.
Flow intensity icon

Flow

Movement, technique, and very low training stress. Keep the work smooth and leave plenty in reserve.

Restore intensity icon

Restore

Recovery-focused training with low fatigue. Build movement quality without creating much residual stress.

Might intensity icon

Might

Productive training with purposeful effort. This is the primary working zone for building strength and capacity.

Rage intensity icon

Rage

High-intensity training with significant demand. Push hard while keeping the goal in sight.

Ascend intensity icon

Ascend

The highest state. Focused, demanding work reserved for moments that require your best.

Coach's Note
Intensity is a guide, not a limit. Adjust based on the athlete's readiness, goals, and the structure of the program.
